Mission Statement
The Kildonan Teacher Training Institute (KTTI) empowers individuals with dyslexia and supports literacy broadly by educating teachers in the best practices of the Orton-Gillingham approach through training, practicum supervision, and student diagnostics.
Fully accredited by the Orton-Gillingham Academy, we offer:
- Orton-Gillingham training and practicum supervision
- Informal screenings and evaluations (see tab below)
- Comprehensive reading evaluations and standardized testing (see tab below)
Orton-Gillingham Certified Level Training I – Online course
Taught by an OGA Accredited Training Fellow, Laurie Cousseau
Prerequisites: Bachelor’s Degree; Member of the Academy at the Associate level
Dates: October 17, 18, 19 & November 1, 2, 2025
Hours: 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (40 hours of coursework)
Tuition $1,250
The Certified Level I course includes the following topics:
- Knowledge of dyslexia and reading disabilities
- Review of basic phonology and handwriting instruction
- Case management and professional communications
- Formal and informal assessment measures
- Understanding and interpretation of standardized testing
- Student profile and matching lesson plans
- Knowledge of methods and programs derived from O.G.
Orton-Gillingham Certified Level Training II – Online course
Taught by an OGA Accredited Training Fellow, Laurie Cousseau
Prerequisites: Bachelor’s Degree; Member of the Academy at the Associate level
Dates: January 16, 17, 18 & February 7, 8, 2026
Hours: 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (40 hours of coursework)
Tuition $1,250.00
The Certified Level II course includes the following topics:
- The stages of word attack and the O.G. lesson plan
- Review of phonology, phonics, and handwriting instruction
- Study of morphology and advanced elements of the language
- Exploration of the systematic, structured writing process
- Teaching of vocabulary, comprehension, pragmatics, and study skills
- OGA Code of Ethics
Practicum Supervision is available at the Classroom Educator, Associate, and Certified levels.
Orton-Gillingham Associate Level Training II – In-person
Taught by an OGA Accredited Training Fellow, Laurie Cousseau
Prerequisites: Bachelor’s Degree
Dates: (TBA)
Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (70 hours of coursework)
Tuition: $2,500 plus participants purchase approximately $100 in materials
This 70-hour course covers all the basic curricular components designed to transfer to 1:1 teaching. The comprehensive training focuses on the multisensory principles of teaching and current research-based language instruction designed to integrate reading with spelling and writing.
The curriculum includes the following topics:
- Dyslexia and reading disorders
- The rationale of the Orton-Gillingham Approach
- Phonology and morphology
- The motor component and the writing process
- Vocabulary, reading comprehension, and fluency
- Assessment and diagnostic-prescriptive teaching
- The student profile, lesson plan, and teaching materials
- The academy structure and requirements
Orton-Gillingham Practicum Supervision: Associate and Certified Level
Taught by an OGA Accredited Training Fellow, Laurie Cousseau
Associate Level:
Approximately $3,000, which covers the minimum of 10 full lesson observations and support with fulfillment of the OG Academy requirements.
Certified Level:
Approximately $3,000, which covers the minimum of 10 full lesson observations and support with fulfillment of the OG Academy requirements.
Orton-Gillingham Practicum Supervision: Classroom Educator Training & Practicum
Taught by an OGA Accredited Training Fellow, Laurie Cousseau
Cost: $ 1,250 for the practicum, which covers 5 full lesson observations.
(In some cases, additional observations are needed, in which case there is an added expense.)
